About the Lodge
A 3-bedroom self-catering holiday lodge with 3 en-suite bathrooms and spacious living/social areas, Mkhaya Bush Lodge offers self-catering holidays in superbly appointed bush lodge located in the Hans Merensky Golf Estate. The Estate, carved from indigenous bush near Phalaborwa in the Limpopo Province of South Africa, borders the world renowned Kruger National Park. Our lodge is set in deep bush close to the Kruger National Park fence. It is designed for the discerning nature lover, with golf and safari holidays in mind. Guests frequently hear the calls of big game from the lodge; golfers can expect to encounter giraffe, warthog and several species of antelope during a round. With the superb Hans Merensky golf course on the doorstep & the magnificent Kruger National Park around the corner, memorable golf & safari holidays are easy to envisage.
Primary Attractions:
The Kruger National Park, South Africa’s most significant wildlife sanctuary is a mere five minutes’ drive from the estate. Lion, leopard, buffalo, wild dog, hyena, giraffe, zebra, elephant, sometimes rhino and several antelopes are present in this part of the Kruger Park and tourists are guaranteed to see some or all of these species.
Day safaris & night drives in off-road 4×4 vehicles may be booked at the Kruger Park gate or simply tour the reserve in your own vehicle for a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa.
Game viewing is also available in any of the several private game reserves near Phalaborwa, as well as from one of the cruise boats on the nearby Olifants dam.
Located in one of South Africa’s most pristine wildlife areas, Mkhaya Bush Lodge is an ideal holiday destination, offering both the avid golfer and wildlife enthusiast the pleasure of a good game of golf in the company of four-legged friends. Giraffes, warthogs and several species of wild antelope regularly promenade the fairways, and many of the Kruger National Park’s inhabitants have been known to pay scant attention to fences! Crocodiles and hippos reside in the course’s many dams.
Renowned as the top golfing destination in Limpopo and ranked among the great South African courses by the Compleat Golfer magazine, Hans Merensky provides the absolute best when it comes to golfing. The parklands type 18 hole, par 72 championship golf course offers an exercise in precision play and challenges both serious and casual golfers. It has been host to many international and national high-profile professional and amateur tournaments and proudly boasts a truly global quality. The course’s exceptional holes extend over a vast area of indigenous bush, with many water hazards and well-bunkered greens, offering great views of the unspoilt African veld.

Rules of the Estate & the Lodge
a. Don’t venture out on foot at night. The hippos move around at night and are dangerous. We also have a regular visitor in the form of a leopard who enters the estate very close to Lodge 215. Other predators have visited the estate from time to time too.
b. When leaving the house, even for a short period, please check that all the windows and doors are closed. Baboons are opportunistic fellows and can wreak terrible damage if they get into a house, not to mention taking off with your food, especially fruit.
c. Please reset the alarm if you go out for a few hours or more as we have had petty theft on the estate in the past – cameras, mobile phones, laptops, that sort of thing.
• To re-set the alarm you must close the front door, stand still and wait for the green light on the keypad, enter the code, move outside and lock the door. You have about 20 seconds to do this and you’ll hear a sound to confirm that the alarm is on.
d. No smoking in the lodge, please.
e. Please ensure that braais/barbeques are totally extinguished after the event, because of the possibility of sparks being blown on to the thatched roof.
f. Guests are asked to refrain from collecting wood from anywhere on the Estate for any purpose.
• Hard wood suitable for barbecuing is available from the Caltex garage near the main road into Phalaborwa
g. No unaccompanied children are allowed on the Estate or in the Lodge.
h. No pets of any description are allowed on the estate.
i. By accepting the house key you adopt fully all risks relative to your stay at Lodge 215 and you exonerate the Lodge owners and the Estate ownership and management of all responsibility for any accident, theft or incident of whatever nature that may occur during your stay at Lodge 215. You further accept responsibility for any and all damages to the property and/or contents that may occur due to deliberate action and/or gross negligence during your stay at the Lodge.
j. Houses may be occupied from 15:00 on day of arrival & should be vacated by 10:00 on the day of departure. If possible please allow access to the cleaner from 08:00 on the day of departure to remove linen etc and to clean the kitchen.
k. On departure:
• Please ensure that the Lodge is locked up, including all windows and that the alarm is set
• Hand the key to the security guard on your way out.
