Flamingo Lodge

Our B & B Facilities

Flamingo Lodge has recently upgraded their facilities with the objective of making the lodge more attractive and comfortable for all their guests. The bedrooms have been re-decorated and all carpets have been replaced with tiles in keeping with our sea-side proximity. The bathrooms have all been fully renovated and modernized by installing brand new shower doors. All the beds have been replaced with modern beds that can be easily converted from 2 single beds to a King size double bed.

All rooms are equipped with 32” HD LCD Flat screen Televisions. DSTV (Satellite Television) with individual controls have been installed in each room. Wireless Internet facilities are now available at no extra charge to all guests (providing they have their own wireless internet capable computer) in each room. You can also enjoy our honesty bar located on the balcony off the guest lounge.

An Internet Café is now operational in our lounge with free downloads from digital cameras to disk, as well as internet facilities (at a nominal fee) for those guests who do not have wireless internet capable computers.

All bedrooms’ balconies have been renovated with new furniture and fencing to create a private retreat. There is air conditioning in each room with its own remote control, so that guests can regulate the room temperature. Tea and coffee making facilities are standard in all rooms.

The upgrading of the lodge is a continuing exercise where our objective is to provide the very best facilities that International visitors should expect when visiting a premier resort (which Umhlanga most certainly is) in a country which has so much to offer it’s visitors (which South Africa certainly has). Flamingo Lodge offer 7 quality rooms with private balconies, as well as 1 Self Catering Suite.

Each of the tastefully decorated bedrooms all has their own en suite bathrooms/showers, as well as their own private patios. All rooms are equipped with 32” HD LCD Flat screen Televisions with satellite Television, Safes, Tea/Coffee making facilities and individually controlled Air-cons and fans.

A full English Breakfast is served outside on our balcony with great views of the sea.

Self Catering Accommodation in Umhlanga:

Our Self catering unit consists of a king size double or alternatively twin beds in the bedroom as well as a double sleeper couch in the lounge. The unit has a fully equipped kitchen including cutlery and crockery, refrigerator, microwave, oven and hob. The bathroom has a separate shower. Complimentary items include tea and coffee, individually wrapped soap, shampoo, conditioner, shower cap and sewing kit The apartment comes with 32” HD LCD Flat screen Televisions and DSTV (Satellite Television) with individual controls. Wireless Internet facilities are now available at no extra charge to all guests (providing they have their own wireless internet capable computer). Alternatively, use our internet cafe in the guest lounge.

Map and Directions to Umhlanga:

Driving on the N2 from Johannesburg side:
Take the “GATEWAY/Mt Edgecombe/Phoenix/Umhlanga” M41 offramp. (You can SEE GATEWAY ahead on your right hand side.)
Turn right at the robots into the M41. Travel about 300m and pass under the Millennium Bridge. (White steel shaped like a dome).Take the “Umhlanga” (Gateway only) M12 off ramp on the left.
Turn left at robots on top of off-ramp & move immediately into middle lane. Pass McDonalds/Shell and go thru’ the first traffic circle. Pass Umhlanga Hospital on your left, straight thru’ the next traffic circle.
Turn right at the roundabout just passed the hospital down toward the village Turn left at the 4th set of traffic lights into Lagoon Drive Turn sharp left immediately after the Cabana beach Hotel into Flamingo Lane We are number 15. Press the after hour button if after 6.00 P.M.

Using N2 from the North Coast (Richards Bay / King Shaka International Airport):
Take the “Mt Edgecombe/Phoenix/Umhlanga” M41 Off ramp. Turn left at the robots. Travel about 300m and pass under the Millennium Bridge. (White steel shaped like a dome). Take the “Umhlanga” (Gateway only) M12 off ramp on the left. Turn left at robots on the top of off-ramp & then immediately into the middle lane. Continue straight through the first circle and turn right at the roundabout just passed the hospital down toward the village Turn left at the 4th set of traffic lights into Lagoon Drive Turn sharp left immediately after the Cabana beach Hotel into Flamingo Lane We are number 15. Press the after hour button if after 6.00 P.M.

Using the M4 from the North (Umdloti/Ballito):
Take the “M12 Umhlanga Rocks/Lighthouse Road” off ramp. Turn Left into Umhlanga Rocks Drive. At the second set of Traffic lights turn left into Lagoon drive. Turn sharp left immediately after the Cabana beach Hotel into Flamingo Lane. We are number 15. Press the after hours button if after 6.00 P.M.

Using the M4 from Durban Central:
Take the “Umhlanga Rocks Dr” off ramp. Turn Right into Umhlanga Rocks Drive. At the second set of Traffic lights turn left into Lagoon drive. Turn sharp left immediately after the Cabana beach Hotel into Flamingo Lane. We are number 15. Press the after hours button if after 6.00 P.M.

Using Umhlanga Rocks Drive (M12) from Durban North area:
Travel North along Umhlanga Rocks Drive (M12) from Durban North area. Pass Sunningdale, Somerset Park, DSTV, Cell C, G&B. Cross over the M41 bridge. Pass McDonalds.
Continue straight through the first turning circle and turn right at the second roundabout just after the Hospital down toward the village
Turn left at the 4th set of traffic lights into Lagoon Drive Turn sharp left immediately after the Cabana beach Hotel into Flamingo Lane We are number 15. Press the after hour button if after 6.00 P.M.
