Hotel Numbi & Garden Suites

Established in 1963 the Hotel Numbi and Garden Suites is less than 10 minutes drive from the world famous Kruger National Park. This luxury hotel is the most central located property for visits to the Kruger and guests have the choice of three entrance gates, Numbi (16 km), Kruger (44 km) and the new Phabeni gate (12km). Situated in Hazyview, in the heart of the magical Mpumalanga Province this owner-managed hotel has for the past forty seven years enjoyed making every customer feel special and welcome. With in 45 minutes guests can visit Gods window, Pilgrim’s Rest, Blyde River Canyon and the wonderful waterfalls on the Panorama route.

Recently refurbished the Hotel Numbi and Garden Suites is a luxury three star hotel with a “highly recommended” accreditation from the AA of South Africa. The hotel is situated on a 10 hectares property in lush sub-tropical garden surrounds next to the main road in Hazyview.

The old indigenous trees and the gardens with its large lawns create an atmosphere of total relaxation. Guests have a choice of accommodation; the hotel offers nineteen luxury twin rooms, two double and one family room. The reception, restaurants, conference facilities and bar are all located within the hotel.

Garden Suites

The 28 Garden Suites offer guests the comfort of parking their vehicles at their bedrooms and the privacy of private patios ensures that the guest can enjoy the bird life and tranquillity of the garden surrounds. All these rooms are air-conditioned, with television and offer bathrooms en suite.

Main House

The original farm house was build in the late forties and traditionally thatch homes offered a cool and comfortable living in the hot summer months of the Lowveld.
This home has now been revamped and offers guests the choice of luxury accommodation in a private garden with a pool. Some of the suites offer additional outside showers, there are two inter-leading family units, a romantic honeymoon suite, executive suite with a spa bath and the other Main House rooms are spacious twin rooms with bathrooms en-suite.

Also on the premises of the Hotel is the Numbi Caravan Park and at the main entrance the Rendezvous Tourism Centre offering shopping and that is also where the new restaurant – Pioneers Butcher & Grill is situated.

Hotel Rooms

The hotel offers 22 luxurious bedrooms all with air-conditioning, 8 channel DSTV television and highly appointed bathrooms en suite. Elegantly decorated by Denee Fick, the contemporary African design in the rooms ensures superior comfort and guest care.

Bedrooms on the ground level provide guests direct access to the pool and garden through a wooden sliding door, where the bedrooms on the first floor offer private balconies so that guests can enjoy the sub-tropical climate of the Mpumalanga lowveld.

Caravan Park

The Caravan Park offers modern ablution facilities and electricity and water points for 36 caravan sites in a shaded park with lawn. The entire property is fenced and access is controlled, security guards ensure a safe and relaxed camping experience.

Conference Venue

The conference centre is a modern facility, fully equipped and air-conditioned. This is an ideal venue for breakaways, conferences, teambuilding and social events.

Skyway Trails – “Experience the thrill of Africa’s longest aerial cable trail”
Experience the freedom of gliding over one of the last remaining natural forested valleys along the Sabie River. The aerial cable trail takes you down into the valley basin, stopping along the way on a number of elevated platforms to admire the natural vegetation, birdlife and the views of the forest floor below.

White water rafting – Sabie River
The Sabie River provides 20 rapids (grade 2–3) with areas of scenic vegetation and outstanding birdlife viewing. This 8 km route is yielding to the novice, yet accommodating to the thrill seeker within all of us. Swimming, bum sliding at “Lion’s Rock”.

Shangana Cultural Village
Midway between the Blyde River Canyon and the Kruger National Park, the residents of the traditional villages of Shangana invite guests to share in the way of life of the Shangaan people. The picturesque villages are set in the shade of ancient trees in a reserve of forest and grassland.

Elephant-Back Safari
There is something magical about swaying through the African bush on the back of an elephant. The 12 fully trained African elephants arrived at Kapama Private Game Reserve in early 2002, after being relocated from Zimbabwe, where their safety was in jeopardy.

For visits to the Kruger Park, guests have the choice of three entrance gates, Numbi (16 km), Kruger (44 km) and the new Phabeni gate (12km). The main camp of the Kruger, Skukuza is only 60 km from the hotel and self-drive guests use the Hotel as the preferred base for day visits to the Park.

The Numbi is also with in 45 minutes from the major tourist attractions of the Lowveld, guests can visit Gods window, Pilgrim’s Rest, Blyde River Canyon and the wonderful waterfalls on the Panorama route. The capital of the Mpumalanga Province, Nelspruit is only 64km from the Hotel so is the Kruger Mpumalanga International airport.

The location of the Numbi from Johannesburg is 400km, travel only 250km east to visit Maputo, the capital of Mozambique or when travelling south to Durban, through Swaziland, this border is 150km from the hotel.
