Activities:
Morning and afternoon/evening game safaris in open Land Rovers with highly trained rangers and trackers. More than 60 species of wildlife are found on this vast reserve including lion, leopard, cheetah, rhino and elephant as well as several delightful and unusual species of fauna and flora. Walking and birding safaris can also be arranged as Jackalberry is a paradise for bird-watchers.
Climate:
In summer (October to March) temperatures range from16˚C to 38˚C and in winter (May, June & July) from 5˚C to 26˚C. Summer days and nights are generally hot and humid outdoors while winter days are mild and very comfortable with evenings and early mornings being cold. The Lowveld has summer rainfall. Please note that this is a MALARIA area.
Jackalberry Safari & Activities:
Jackalberry Lodge is situated within the Thornybush Private Game Reserve, one of the world’s premier Big Five game viewing areas. The bush around the Lodge teems with game and more than sixty species of wildlife can be found in the immediate vicinity, including lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino, elephant, hyena and cheetah. Game drives or walking safaris, undertaken by highly trained rangers and trackers, offer the privilege of experiencing a true bushveld environment. Jackalberry is also a paradise for bird-watchers, where more than 280 species have been recorded.
Meals:
Tea, coffee, rusks, muffins and croissants are provided on the morning game drive and various savoury snacks on the evening game drive. Brunch is served after the morning game drive and high tea is served prior to the afternoon/evening game drive. A three-course dinner is served in the evening.
Gate Operating Times: The Jackalberry Lodge gate opens around 07h00 and closes at 18h00 daily. A special gate pick-up is available by prior arrangement should it be required.
