Weather and Health
Come prepared – we recommend for all seasons, that you bring a warm jacket and some warm clothing, a swimming costume, a rain coat or umbrella, comfortable walking shoes and a track suit for the Spa.
Dress code for breakfast and lunch is casual and for dinner smart casual is perfect.
We are in a malaria free area and there are no health warnings for this area at any time of the year.
Winter days are normally warm and sunny getting cold in the evenings and early mornings.
Spring is a beautiful season – full of blossoms and warm to hot beautiful blue sky days. Rain can occur.
Summer days can be hot with clear blue skies but the weather can change suddenly and become wet and cold.
Autumn is magnificent as the Plain trees, Liquid Ambers and Oaks turn to stunning autumn colours. Warm days are normal with evenings being chilly.

Coming from Durban you will take the N3 to Johannesburg:
Travel past Pietermaritzburg. Travel to the Howick/ Tweedie off Ramp and turn right at the top of the off ramp.
Proceed to the R103 and at the T-Junction turn right and travel for +_ 25 kms into the heart of the Midlands. As you approach Balgowan, follow the signs to Michaelhouse School and Woodridge Country Hotel. Your will cross a railway bridge as head towards the large school gates. Just before the gates turn left and please follow the Hotel signs.
You will travel along the railway line heading back towards Durban for a very short distance and will see the hotel entrance on your right. Head up the hill to reception.
Coming from Gauteng – take the N3 to Durban:
Come through the Mooi River Toll Gate you will travel for another +- 5 kms. Look out for and take the Nottingham Road Off ramp. At the top of the off ramp turn right to Nottingham Road.
Travel for +_ 5 kms through the village – keep left – do not go under the railway bridge. Travel another 8 kms and you will see the Michaelhouse School buildings on your right.
Follow the signs to Michaelhouse School and Woodridge Hotel. At the railway bridge turn right as if heading for the main gates of the school. Just before the gates turn left and follow the signs to the hotel.
The hotel is situated in the heart of the Midlands Meander Arts and Crafts Route – an excellent base from which to explore. Well situated close to numerous Top KZN Schools and only 1 Km from Michaelhouse School.
