Ashton Kelder News October 2012

Ashton Kelder is the home of easy drinking, quality wines at the right price. The newly designed labels of the three-tiered range still carry the symbol of the rose, which through the centuries remains the ‘queen of flowers’ – the ultimate symbol of love.

Situated in the heart of the ‘Valley of wine and roses’ in the fertile Robertson area, from grower to winemaker, we have a passion for producing wines that promise to light up the lives of those that share the pleasure of drinking our wines.

The combination of a unique climate, variety of soils and scientific viticulture practices places the cellar at the forefront when it comes to producing an exciting variety of wine styles from the best quality grapes.

Established in 1962, the Ashton Kelder co-operative has an annual production of around 18 000 tons of grapes from 68 growers, with nearly 2000 ha under vineyard.

Different climates, areas and terroirs shape the variety of wine styles. Together with our valued members, we strive to grow the best grapes.

A unique relationship exists between grower and wine producer. This co-operation is essential when selecting optimal vineyards for our choice collection of wines for both local and international markets.

Fitted with the most modern equipment to ensure continuous quality, the cellar has a capacity of up to 24 000 tons per year.

The cellar also produces grape juice concentrate for the wine, canning and beverage industries.

“The only way to appreciate wine is when a few people, who understand and enjoy it meet together, feeling free to luxuriate in the delight imparted”
