Breedekloof Wine Valley Newsletter June 16
I can’t believe it’s June. Winter is still finding its way into the Breedekloof Wine Valley, but the temperatures have dropped considerably and the nights and mornings are cool and crisp with mist hanging over the valley.
There is so much to love about winter, though – roaring fire places, a glass of your favourite Breedekloof red or hanepoot, planning your Soetes & Soup weekend…The Breedekloof Wine Valley is particularly beautiful this time of year and if you have an urge to get away, take advantage of the winter specials offered by our accommodation facilities, or join us for Soetes & Soup.

Can’t wait to get out to the Breedekloof Wine Valley? Don’t worry, we’re bringing our wines to you, in Cape Town. Another chance to taste some excellent #chenin of various producers at 91 Loop Street.
Breedekloof Greening Project 2016
As part of the alien clearing that is done in the Breedekloof Wine Valley, we have partnered with the division Land Care of the Department of AgriCulture, Western Cape in a “Tree project”. This project sees the growth of indigenous trees that are bought by the farmers in the region and planted mostly in areas where alien clearing has taken place.
This year over 10 000 trees were bought by over 100 farmers from within our networks and partnerships. Trees will also be donated to various rural schools within the Breedekloof Wine Valley within the next 2 months, all of which are part of the Junior Land Care Project.
Farmers were invited to collect their trees at an information day held on Wednesday, 01 June, where a number of our partners had stalls and shared information on various projects with the producers.
Wes Kaap Dept. Landbou – Land Care 2. Dept. Omgewinsake & Ontwikkelings Beplanning 3. Breede Gouritz Catchment Management Agency 4. Wolseley Water Users Association.
Keep the winter chills at bay with a steaming cup of Red wine & Onion Marmelade soup, Chicken Curry soup, Chocolate soup, Waterblommetjie soup or traditional Vegetable soup – these are just a few of the soups being served at this year’s annual Breedekloof Soetes & Soup 2016 festival, taking place on Friday 22 and Saturday 23 July.
Your festival pass only costs R120 per person (children under 18: R60). This year there will once again be limited tickets available and tickets are only available online, so buy yours early at www.webtickets.co.za
