Fern Hill Hotel – Welcome to the December e-newsletter for 2014!
Well, that year certainly went fast, didn’t it? Christmas is on our doorstep and the end-of-year parties are in full swing at Fern Hill Hotel.
If you’ve visited us in the last few weeks you will have seen that we’ve been renovating the Reception, Dining Room and Signal Box areas of the hotel. We’d like to say a big THANK YOU for bearing with us while we chipped, painted and plastered our way through all these upgrades. We are 99% complete and are just waiting for a delivery of dining room chairs to finish off the new look. Please let us know what you think the next time you visit! Lastly, please be aware that we are fully booked for the Christmas Day carvery and Christmas Eve carvery; we sold out before December had even started, which is a record for us here at Fern Hill.

Further Festive Carveries – Bookings open
If you can’t join us on Christmas Day then fret not: we have a number of other festive feasts planned during the holiday season. The Boxing Day lunchtime carvery is another firm favourite in the Fern Hill calendar. Bookings for this carvery are now open at a cost of: R170 for adults and R100 for children under 10 years old. Likewise, the New Year’s Day lunchtime carvery is also open for bookings at the same price: R170 for adults and R100 for children under 10 years old.
Please note that our Christmas Eve is fully booked.
Thursday is Locals’ Night!
Starting this month, every Thursday will be Locals’ Night in the Sunset Bar at Fern Hill Hotel. We have two new barman (Shadrack and Senso) who are eager to welcome you to this new specials evening!
You can expect R18 draught beers, R60 beer jugs, R15 wine glasses and R20 cocktails. The chefs have a number of pub specials lined up on ribs, pizzas, snack baskets (back by popular demand!), and an amazing R70 for a 300g rump steak.
What else is happening each Thursday? Live entertainment. We’ve got Trevor Browne lined up for the next few weeks, with more live acts (anything from stand-up comedy to karaoke) planned in the future. We hope to see you there!

Wedding Venue Specials for January and February

Pensioners’ Specials!
All pensioners will receive a 10% discount off their total bill every lunchtime on Tuesday. What’s more, there is no service charge for pensioner tables of less than five people. Pensioners can also benefit from our highly reduced Sunday Carvery pensioners’ price of R135 per person.
Thursday Pizza special is BACK!
Due to popular demand, we’ve revived our famous Thursday Pizza Special. Just R25 for a large Margherita pizza! There’s also an array of extra toppings to choose from that have been split into different pricing categories, so it’s easy to tailor-make a pizza to stretch your Rands a little further. What’s more, Windhoek beers are just R17 and a 500ml carafe of house wine is just R38! That means two people could each have a pizza and a glass of wine for less than R90! Every Friday night we offer a special curry menu to all diners in our Snooty Fox restaurant. The special menu has been available for years and features a variety of curry dishes including traditional Indian curries, Thai curries and vegetarian curries. From now on, all diners will receive a free glass of red or white wine with every curry ordered. This is a new addition to the Friday Night Curry Evenings, and we hope you enjoy the added value!

Fern Hill Chapel – Available For Bookings
The Fern Hill Chapel is our latest addition to the facilities that can be found at Fern Hill Hotel. The airy and tastefully decorated venue is ideal for weddings, christenings, memorials and more. The venue includes locally designed and manufactured stained glass windows as well as two stunning driftwood chandeliers. Large glass concertina doors run the length of one side of the chapel, and these open out into a newly manicured and secluded garden for guests to mingle after services. It truly is a stunning venue and we’re very proud of it. The chapel is open daily for anyone who visits the hotel, so feel free to poke your head in to see the place for yourself.
