CAWS Malawi safari listed in ‘top 50 tours’ by National Geographic & more
A safari tour run by Central African Wilderness Safaris has been selected as one of National Geographic Traveller magazines ’50 Tours of a Lifetime’. Elevate Destinations ‘Malawi Service and Safari Tour’ offers guests the opportunity to gain real insight into Malawian life by volunteering at a local village while also experiencing Malawi’s incredible wildlife.
In CAWS’ March Newsletter they revealed a new rhino calf born in Liwonde National Park. They also included a round up of all the latest happenings in Liwonde and Nyika.
In April members of Central African Wilderness Safaris (CAWS) Lilongwe office joined hundreds of Malawian citizens in a march supporting Malawi’s “Stop Wildlife Crime” campaign.

The call for submissions is now open for Lilongwe Shorts, Malawi’s international short film festival. The inaugural festival, presented by Lake of Stars, will take place on Friday 8 and Saturday 9 May at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe.

New boat from Nkwichi & Danforth Yachting are back
Nkwichi is proud to introduce Mpasa, their new and superfast Boston Whaler! With this newest addition to their fleet, the transfer from Likoma Airstrip to Nkwichi Lodge can now be done within the hour. With sun cover, comfortable benches and seating on the front deck for the more adventurous, it takes 4-6 passengers at a time. The name ‘Mpasa’ refers to cichlids endemic to Lake Malawi, and Mpasa really is like a fish in Nkwichi’s waters.

Rhinos, Leopards and lions thrive in the Majete Wildlife Reserve
Floods, Wildlife sightings and Community projects were the highlights from African Parks’ recent quarterly newsletter for Malawi’s Majete wildlife reserve. While the rains created some challenges for Majete in early January the rains brought a welcome relief to the Majete wildlife. The rains brought an abundance of grass and bushes and vegetation grew quickly providing much needed nourishment to many of the starving animals. The bird life was prolific and zebra, lions and antelope returned to the tourism area of the reserve. Read More

The Story so Far in 2015 from Fisherman’s rest
Fisherman’s rest has recently shared some of their achievements so far this year.
They are currently working in twenty-two schools, supporting teachers with literacy projects, feeding students to encourage them to come to school and learn, as well as developing educational projects in relation to agriculture, chicken management and reducing deforestation by planting and managing trees. They are also actively building kitchens, libraries and classrooms in a number of schools. Read More
