At Nambiti Hills, we pride ourselves on our promise to give every single guest the best experience that we know how: An unforgettable and personal escape with all the indulgences. So we had a little chuckle when we received this mail from a recent guest. You could tell from the moment they arrived that they were preoccupied with whatever work or dilemmas they had…but it wasn’t very long before we worked our Nambiti Hills magic and whisked them away from their stresses with the tranquillity and serenity of nature at its finest.

“Probably, for the first time in the history of safari tours, has a game ranger had two people sitting in the back seat of his vehicle: one talking anxiously on their phone, and the other furiously sending emails before the signal disappears.

This was the start of our Nambiti Hills experience. My husband and I both own businesses – and as you can imagine, the pressure and responsibilities that go with it, mean that we never go on holiday. But here we were, on a mid-week break kindly bought for us as an anniversary present from our family; and in the process of missing the whole thing with our heads buried in our work.

But luckily, that was just the drive from the parking lot to the lodge. By the time we arrived, ranger Joe had taught us how to tell the difference between a male and female giraffe, why secretary birds are so angry, and the importance of taking it all in. Which is why, when we stepped off the vehicle and were welcomed by the happy team, we turned off our phones, chucked them to the bottom of our bags and spent the next 48 hours in pure spoils.

An incredibly relaxing facial at Zolile Spa, an up close and personal encounter with a sleepy lioness and her 2 naughty cubs and an afternoon spent cooling off in the lodge pool with a biltong platter and some ice cold drinks. We were on holiday, and loving it. And… because our phones were locked away, we didn’t have one single photograph to prove it. But that’s the way we like it – the memory of our time at Nambiti Hills is imprinted in our minds. We are so thankful to Bryce, Joe and the friendly, helpful, happy staff who made it the perfect getaway. We’ve already booked our next trip and can’t wait to return.
