Little Bush Camp – a hidden gem

Within the family of Sabi Sabi’s 5 star lodges is Little Bush Camp – secluded, exclusive and very, very private. While Earth Lodge is known for its glamour and Selati Camp for its air of romance, Little Bush Camp mirrors the atmosphere of warmth, personable hospitality as well as the luxurious design of Bush Lodge. Tucked away in a bend of the Msuthlu River, Little Bush Camp has just 6 suites, making it ideal for those guests looking for a quieter bushveld experience, or even as a completely exclusive getaway for families, friends and business associates. With so few guests, the sounds of the bushveld are even more audible, the energy of the wilderness more tangible

The glorious, luxury suites are spread out above the riverbed, overlooking the verdant and unspoilt bushveld beyond. Glass doors from the bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms open onto private wooden viewing decks which each features a decadent outdoor spa bath – an incredible place to birdwatch, keep an eye out for any passing game, or just relax, unwind and enjoy the rhythm of the wild. With the suites individually spaced apart, privacy is a guarantee.

Centred between the suites is the lounge, open-sided dining area and lively bar with its comprehensive hand-picked wine list – these are delightful, friendly areas for visitors to connect and socialise. A few steps down, and a wooden swing-bridge across the river leads to a sparkling swimming pool hidden along the winding pathway – the perfect place to laze and forget the strains of daily life.
The cuisine at Little Bush Camp is absolutely delicious, with most meals enjoyed outdoors, either under the magnificent indigenous trees which shade the lodge’s stunning gardens, in the riverbed or in the newly-redone boma.
It’s impossible to visit Little Bush Camp and not feel the sense of calm and seclusion that pervades this corner of the Sabi Sabi reserve. The local Shangaan people refer to this lodge as ‘Tombela”, which means ‘hidden’. And that’s just what Little Bush Camp is – a hidden gem.
