Sabi Sabi Press Release
Another international award for Sabi Sabi
It has been said that when Lonely Planet speaks, the travelling public listens.
In a glittering ceremony on May 3rd 2012, famous Bollywood stars came out to do the presentations as Lonely Planet announced its first ever Lonely Planet Magazine India Travel Awards. There was jubilation from the South Africans present as the prestigious travel magazine voted South Africa the best wildlife destination outside of India, with Sabi Sabi’s Earth Lodge being voted the best international wildlife lodge.
According to Lonely Planet, there had previously been no credible benchmark set for the increasingly sophisticated Indian traveller. Thousands of discerning Lonely Planet readers took part in a survey – both online and in the magazine. This included arguing for ones favourite destination, to help determine which had the enviable X-Factor of excitement; a combination of superb game viewing, the best accommodation, most delicious cuisine and finest “attention to detail” service the Indian traveller has come to expect.
With these awards, there is now a means for visitors from India to make confident decisions on their chosen destinations. As stated by the editor of Lonely Planet Magazine India, “The real winner is the Indian traveller.”
Sabi Sabi has, over its 30-year plus history, garnered a string of local and international awards and accolades that include top honours in other prestigious international magazines including Conde Nast Traveller and Travel + Leisure Magazine. The complete refurbishment of Earth Lodge in 2011, combining its unique architecture with the essence of Africa’s mineral wealth, created a real buzz amongst visitors. The on-going upgrades at Bush Lodge, Little Bush Camp, and Selati Camp continue to provide guests with the ultimate in luxury safari experiences.
Lonely Planet, which is arguably the biggest travel brand in the world, is regarded as one of the top international travel authorities in both the printed and online formats, with millions of readers and scores of contributors around the world.
Comprising four individual, 5-Star lodges each with its own identity, look and feel, Sabi Sabi offers exceptional Big 5, open Land Rover safaris by day and at night – close encounters with Africa’s wildlife, combined with unparalleled luxury and a unique brand of African hospitality. The reserve is blessed with great biodiversity of habitat, making it home to over 200 mammal and more than 300 bird species.
