Tropical Ice’s Exciting Adventures with African Travel Solutions: 2017

Tropical Ice’s Exciting Adventures:  2017

Alex found his recent visit to Indaba, the travel trade fair in Durban, South Africa, quite an eye-opener.  He arrived expecting to find healthy competition in our field of expertise, but, realised very quickly, the modern version of African “adventure” didn’t go much deeper than flying safaris into chintzy boutique lodges in over-touristic private game reserves.  It would appear that Tropical Ice’s safaris are truly unique. He realised that the walking safaris that we started nearly 40 years ago, in terms of breadth, scale, and quality in Kenya’s magnificent Tsavo still have no equal anywhere else on the African continent.
The Great Walk  of Africa

Our Great Walk of Africa is a journey into “Old Africa”.  It is a gimmick-free safari, concentrating on experiencing the Africa seen by the first travellers to the interior of the continent.  We don’t just see the bush, we get into it, smell it, feel it, and see the wildlife on its own terms.  It is an old-style hunting safari except we shoot only with cameras. We track the game, edge in close, then view them in their unaware state.  Nothing is fabricated on our Great Walk of Africa, there is no virtual reality…it is true, unadorned reality.
Our 2017 departures are filling up, so don’t leave it too late.

African Wildlife Safari

If you are looking for a less rigorous safari, or perhaps one which is suitable for families, our African Wildlife Safari could be the one for you.  It is an 8-day flying safari to four of East Africa’s top wildlife areas, all of them different in landscape, atmosphere, and wildlife, staying in exclusive lodges throughout.  The safari culminates in the Maasai Mara, home of the great wildebeest migration.  The volume of game you will see on this safari is staggering! All of our African Wildlife Safaris dove-tail with our Great Walk of Africa departure dates.  A remarkable, family-friendly experience.
February 5 – 13 – July 30 – August 7 – August 13 – 21 (fully booked) – August 27 – September 4 – September 10 – 18 http://http://www.tropical-ice.com/itinerary/african-wildlife/
A Passage Through India

Our move into India five years ago has proved to be one of the most exciting developments in our 40 year history.  A Passage Through India has taken on cult status within India – we were the first to introduce wildlife foot safaris in an Indian tiger reserve – and the fabulous diversity of our safari: landscape, wildlife, culture and history, has captured the imaginations of many of our stalwart clientele.
We will take you into the heart of unvisited rural India, expose you to the luscious jungles – so richly described by Kipling – show you the mammal and bird life…and give you every imaginable opportunity of seeing a Bengal tiger in its natural environment.  We’ll end our safari by visiting the lower foothills of the Himalaya, to the hill station of Shimla, the summer capital of the British Raj.
January 29 – February 15 (6 spaces remaining) – February 19 – March 8 (2 spaces remaining) – March 12 – 29 (4 spaces remaining) http://http://www.tropical-ice.com/itinerary/a-passage-through-india/
