What we have been up to at Three Trees this last month…

“if you kill a worm, you are depriving a bird of food, and if you are poisoning an insect, you are poisoning the birds that eat them. ”Penz Malinga – sharing simple environmental ethics with the children in Hambrook village during Three Trees Community Holiday Programme.

HAMBROOK VILLAGE HOLIDAY CLUB

Penz Malinga, a formidable “Eco Warrior”, travelled from the Mpophomeni Conservation Group to facilitate an amazing 3 days of FUN and ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION. Kids were taken for walks in the grasslands & down to the river to study the invertebrate life in their surroundings to gain a better understanding of what they need to protect. All this was integrated with song, dance, poetry & a nutritious lunch. There were nearly 200 children attending, so Three Trees will continue to sponsor this as an annual event!

Three Trees is now a proud member of the Classic Safari Camps of Africa, which is an association of independent, privately owned lodges and camps in some of the most beautiful wildlife areas in Eastern and Southern Africa. Each of these unique establishments offers genuine hospitality and an intimate knowledge of Africa’s environment, and is dedicated to conservation and the involvement of local communities sharing and conserving the spirit of Africa.

DRAKENSBERG TRAVERSE

Dr Gustav Greffrath from Itchy Feet SA recently hosted Cheryl on the most breath-taking expedition up the Mnweni Pass & onto the top of the Drakensberg and back down again. Surreal experience in an utterly awe-inspiring environment with expert organisation. Gustav leads multi-day hikes in the mountains, river rafting trips in the summer months & rock climbing expeditions for the more adventurous. All this accessible from Three Trees. Winter months are fabulous for extended outdoor overnight hiking, as the days are long and not too warm.
