Protea Guest House

Protea Guest House offers three wooden cottages, situated in a large tropical garden with lovely views of the Knysna Lagoon.

One cottage features two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a lounge, and large sundeck with barbecue facilities. The other two cottages sleep two people each, also with private sundecks and barbecue facilities.

Breakfast is served on the deck of your own cottage, and there is also a self-catering option.

Set in a large tropical garden in a quiet lane, all the timber cottages have a lovely view over the lagoon and passing Outeniqua steam train. Winding stairs lead to 3 seperate cottages, each with their own private sundeck and braai facilities. The cottages are seperated from the main house and each other. Well equipped kitchennettes offer a selfcatering option. Breakfast is served on your own sundeck. The garden is abundant with bird life. The one cottage has 2 bedrooms (with 2 bathrooms) and large lounge and open plan kitchen.

The other 2 cottages sleeps 2 persons each. The one cottage has 2 single beds and the other one has a queen-size bed. Smoking is not allowed in the cottages, but as the rooms going out onto your own sundeck, where it will be ideal for smoking. Children are welcome. Beach towels available on request.

The cottages are serviced and supplied with clean towels every day and are equipped with TV, radio/CD player, microwave oven, fridge, 2 plate stoves, tea/coffee ground coffee and even fresh milk. We serve a large English breakfast (bacon and eggs, yogurt, fruitsalad, museli, etc.) During winter time, there are electrical blankets on all the beds and heaters in the rooms. Internet, fax and laundry facilities available.

We are 2 kilometers from mid-centre of town and one and a half from the Waterfront. There are different boat trips on the lagoon, walking in the forest, whale watching cycling in the forest. We are 11 kilometers from the nearest beach. We can organise any trip you are interested in.

Glasogie – single cottage

This cottage, situated in a large sub-tropical garden, has a king-size or twin beds with a kitchinette and en-suite bathroom. The cottage has its own private deck with a beautiful view overlooking the Knysna lagoon. Sleeps 2 adults.

Loerie – two bedroomed cottage

A family unit with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a lounge and a kitchen. This cottage has its own sundeck with braai facilities, as well as a beautiful view of the Knysna logoon and the Knysna Heads.
Sleeps 4 adults.

Suikerbekkie – single cottage

This cottage, situated in a large sub-tropical garden, has a queen-size bed with a kitchinette and en-suite bathroom. The cottage has its own private deck with a beautiful view overlooking the Knysna lagoon. Sleeps 2 adults.

Knysna Activities:

Beaches, rivers, lakes and lagoons provide ample opportunity for water-sports, while mountains and forests beckon hikers, riders and cyclists alike. A range of eco-adventure companies offer safe, guided activities. There are many activities for the outdoor enthusiast to choose from, both for the gentle and the more adventurous.

Knysna offers a selection of fine restaurants, seafood taverns, coffee shops and eateries, something for everyone and every budget.

1.Travelling from Cape Town along N2, cross 1st Knysna traffic light
2.Turn left into Fletcher Street, at the Total Garage
3.Turn left again into Handel Street and follow the signs to Protea House
4.Proceed along Handel Street and turn right into Circular Drive
5.Take first right into Protea Street, from Circular Drive
6.We are located at no. 7 Protea Street, Paradise, Knysna
