Birchwood Hotel & OR Tambo Conference Centre was established in 1998 with 1 conference and 80 accommodation rooms. From these humbling beginnings, “Birchwood” underwent 4 phases of expansion and today boasts 665 accommodation and just over 50 conference rooms. Spanning over 46 acres of land, Birchwood is South Africa’s largest independent hotel & conference centre capable of hosting over 5 000 delegates at once.
10 minutes from OR Tambo International Airport and easily accessible from 3 major highways, Birchwood is a conveniently located venue for all commuters. In addition to this, Birchwood also offers a complimentary scheduled shuttle service to and from the airport as well as the nearby East Rand Mall shopping centre.
For recreational activities, Birchwood Hotel is surrounded by numerous shopping attractions as well as 3 golf courses and a casino. The 164 seater auditorium and several other rooms have vehicle access allowing heavy machinery and other large equipment to be displayed in the venue. Birchwood provides you with a wedding planner file, our gift to you, which covers all aspects behind the start to finish of your big day. Thereafter our experienced wedding coordinator brings all aspects of your planning together.
To calm your nerves, a day-use room is available for you and your entourage where you can indulge in a glass of champagne before heading off to your ceremony in our exclusive Chapel or landscaped gardens. Once you have tied the knot, your coordinator will usher your guests into a section of the gardens where they will be welcomed by snacks and drinks, whilst you and your partner take photos in our picturesque gardens. After which, you can join them in your reception venue to celebrate this momentous day with a divine selection of food.
