Brooklands House
Brooklands House in the quiet suburb of Rondebosch/Rosebank, only 10 minutes’ drive from the city center and Cape Town International airport.
Built in 1898 during the last few years of Queen Victoria’s reign the house has many classic features such as the high pressed steel ceilings in the downstairs reception rooms, a wonderful sun room that is a great place to kick off you shoes and curl up with a good book on one of the plump comfy sofas.
All the bedrooms are unsuited and have satellite TV, DVD players, mini bar fridges, heated towel rails, mini safes, and complementary tea and coffee.
Our honeymoon/chairman’s suite has a mahogany four poster bed with curtains and a marble fire place and Victorian bathroom with a roll top bath,and stunning views of Rhodes memorial and the back of Table Mountain.
Throughout the house are a total of four fire places. The breakfast room has a number of sporting prints and famous battles on the walls leads into the sun room, which has paintings of the rural cape by some of South Africa famous and not so well known artists.
The garden is watched over by a huge plain tree that gives much needed shade during our warm summer months, and a swing hangs from its branches.
There is a boule court with an outside bar-b-que next to it, also close by is the swimming pool and a petit shiraz vineyard. The garden has a number of sun loungers to lay on and soak up the sun.
For the business traveller the whole house has free WIFI and very good single rates. There is a 10 seater board room table in the conference room, which can double up as a 25 seater function room for private lunches and dinners, we have often hosted birthday parties, wedding anniversaries, university dinners, matric dance pre parties, wine dinners,etc.
There are 7 restaurants and bars with in about 5 minutes’ walk, Newlands Rugby and Cricket grounds are about 30 minutes’ walk away, as is UCT,and the children’s Red Cross Hospital only 10 minutes’ walk away.
Brooklands House can be rented out by whole families or corporate companies, and is ideally situated for all of cape town’s many attractions and only about 30 minutes’ drive to some of the Cape’s very best wine farms and vineyards.
