At the end of a purple carpet of fallen Jacaranda blossoms is a lodge of subtle decadence – Cybele Forest Lodge and Health Spa – set in the Mpumalanga lowveld between Hazyview and White River.
Cybele changes magically with the seasons, enhanced by the moving colours of indigenous and exotic vegetation. Tree species such as Turpentine and Jacaranda, Tibochina and Cassia exude their scent and colours adding to the tranquility and sensuality of Cybele Forest Lodge & Health Spa.
Steeped in over 34 years of history, Cybele has a magical appeal. Today Cybele accommodates 28 people and each of the various air-conditioned suites and cottages have been individually decorated and personalized. All 6 suites have private swimming pools, ideal for an evening swim under a wide, enormous sky.
The lodge’s recently expanded spa has been appropriately named the Spa in the Forest because it’s exactly that; an idyllic escape among the whisper of foliage and the sounds of nature. The Spa in the Forest is a Tuscan styled hideaway providing guests with a wide range of daily packages of therapies and treatments to revitalise and enrich body and soul. A large, open-air granite jacuzzi bath in its own courtyard allows guests to soak away daily stress. The recently expanded spa offers a new indoor hydrotherapy bath as well as a double treatment room … ideal for couples! And now is one of only eleven destination Clarins Spa’s in the country.
Culinary creations comprise a combination of classical French and traditional English styles where guests enjoy breakfast or lunch, in the beautiful gardens, under the towering and serene Ntsiri tree.
Cybele’s Executive Chef has taken it one step further and also designed a selection of healthy and appetizing menus, complementing an unforgettable experience.
At Cybele there are lots to explore including forest walks to the nearby waterfall, horse riding, helicopter flips or simply soaking up the warm sun at one of the swimming pools. But, at the end of the day, it’s about getting away from it all and simply relaxing in the calm of a living forest.

Vehicles & Guides:
Our drivers and guides are highly experienced and knowledgeable, having studied extensively, as well as having worked in the area for a considerable time. They are all fully trained, and their pleasant manner will help to ensure a memorable day. All our guides are registered with the South African Tourism Board.
Our new luxury fleet of vehicles, comprising such modern comforts as pure leather seats, all have air-conditioning. All vehicles carry beverages on board and drinks can be served en route. Superior picnics are served on certain tours and the kitchen at Cybele Forest Lodge and Health Spa, in consultation with the guest’s dietary requirements, provides these.
