Emily Moon River Lodge

Where luxury and peace are to be found in a sweeping river valley. Where the views encompass a wetland, winding river and distant mountains and where the call of the Fish Eagle will forever remind you of the vast skies of Africa .

Embracing the southern bank of the Bitou River in Plettenberg Bay, Emily Moon River Lodge is a small, exclusive Lodge with accommodation for just 16 adult guests and two children over the age of eight years. Each luxurious suite is a separate lodge for two people, with their own sitting areas, private viewing decks and spacious, fully appointed bathrooms.

Emily Moon River Lodge is owned by Mark and Christine Valentine. Mark, a leading dealer in African artifacts, has filled the the restaurant, sun deck and eight luxurious lodges with treasures he has collected from across the continent of Africa, as well as beautiful objects from India.

The lodge is run by a team headed up by Simon & Di Valentine, whose sole purpose is ensuring that guests are well cared for and leave determined to return.

Chris, Emily’s charismatic chef has a passion for fresh flavours which is reflected in the eclectic menu which changes daily. The restaurant is a fun vibey venue for lunch and warm and romantic by night. The exotic ambience, the food and incredible view make this one of the great meeting places of Africa.

The eight separate luxurious lodges are private, large and sumptuous with a décor one might term as chic African contemporary. All have breathtaking views!

Accommodation in seven lodges for two adults per unit, plus one family lodge sleeping two adults and two children.

Each secluded lodge is individually and stylishly furnished. Spacious living area. Fully appointed bathroom with under floor heating. Each room is fitted with mini bars and satellite TV. Wooden viewing deck. Open air shower. Ceiling fan. Plantation blinds. Fireplace. Artworks collected from afar.

Indigenous vegetation surrounds the lodge with a completely natural look, although much thought and planning has been given to the positioning of the various flora beautiful statue like aloes – a few colourful exotics have been added to encourage and host the birdlife. A leafy boardwalk takes you down to the private guest pool and canoes.

We also have a very beautiful Self-Catering house on the Piesang River in Plettenbergbay, on a large piece of land, that can accommodate 6 people or more.
