Eben-Haëzer Country Manor Weddings, Functions, & Accommodation
When the Breugem family left the Netherlands in 1976 and settled in the Drakenstein Valley, with its white gables and proud oak trees, they inherited a legacy of secrets and legends from the French Huguenots. Eben-Haëzer, surrounded by majestic mountains and guarded by dazzling stars and the Southern Cross, became the ideal setting for Cors and Louise Breugem’s flowers and, at this moment succulent nursery. In picturesque Du Toitskloof Pass, just a stone’s throw away, their eight children could enjoy God’s beautiful nature and experience His protection. They enjoyed most beautiful singing birds under the giant tree ferns, waterfalls, graceful disas, and they were very happy to see the wild monkeys. The family lovingly restored the 1837 Cape Dutch homestead and outbuildings into an elegant and luxuriously welcoming Guest House.
The venue’s motto ‘Faith, Hope and Love’ is a testimony to the family’s spiritual strength, as is the acknowledgement in the name Eben-Haëzer from 1 Samuel 7:12, which states: ‘Thus far the Lord has helped us’. This name was given from the Bible by the Huguenots’.
This delightful wedding and conference venue has a countryside Cape Dutch and French style which is quite exceptional and most definitely special. We will do all we can to realise your dreams and create your very own fairytale! The picturesque chapel is dressed in white and encircled by lavender rose gardens and little fountains.
