Royal Country Inn

At the Royal Country Inn you will find yourself in a place of history and tradition.

This charming small-town hotel in the heart of the battlefields is over one hundred years old and carries on the fine tradition of country houses dedicated to excellent service, comfortable rooms, and delicious meals – and in keeping up with the times, we now also offer professional conference facilities.

The Royal Country Inn, established in 1886, has retained its historical Tudor-style ambience and is filled with memorabilia of the Zulu and Boer Wars. We offer a variety of quaint but comfortable rooms – some feature pressed ceilings, wooden floors and wrought-iron fittings and open onto a relaxing garden courtyard, while other rooms have balconies overlooking the civic gardens and World War Memorial. All rooms are en-suite, have tea and coffee making facilities, with satellite television.

The Royal Country Inn is the perfect place from which to explore the Anglo-Zulu and Anglo-Boer (South African War) battlefields, the Drakensberg and the Ithala Game Reserve – the time you spend with us will ensure history continues to live on!
