Our fully equipped self-catering apartments offer unrivalled luxury and are built in a state-of-an-art maisonette style allowing for a pleasant apportionment into a living area downstairs and a sleeping area on the upper floor. The living area includes a first -class open plan kitchen with modern appliances to ensure the best comfort during your stay. The cosy lounge and the adjacent dining area invite for relaxing moments and lead onto a furnished patio with a fire-place to celebrate famous South African braais. You will enjoy the beautiful view from one of our apartments on the Overberg Mountains surrounding the Walker Bay.

The 14 self-catering apartments boast either 2 or 3 bedrooms right in the center of Hermanus. All designer-chic apartments are non-smoking areas and distinctively decorated in cool contemporary colors and furnishings. If you are staying in one of our 2-bedroom apartments, all bedrooms enjoy the luxury of an en-suite bathroom. When staying in a 3-bedroom apartment, the master bedroom allows for the exclusive luxury of a modern en-suite bathroom and a modest private balcony allowing for a fantastic mountain view. The additional bedrooms have access to a second bathroom which is not en-suite.

The city is internationally known as the home of the Southern Right Whale, which can easily be observed from June to December. The peak viewing times for these amazing giants of the sea is August – November. The whales begin to migrate from Antarctica in late April, taking up to approximately 8 weeks to arrive in Walker Bay, Hermanus. The beginning of the season is characterized by whale mating groups, where males ‘compete’ for the attention of available females in large active groups. Males generally leave the South African waters by September, leaving only the mothers and calves for the rest of the season. Whale calves become extremely playful and agile as the season ends, practicing the swimming and communication skills they need for the 3,000km journey south to the Antarctic waters. Every year, an aerial whale count is conducted during October, and the amount of mothers and calves in our area can easily top +100 individuals at the height of the season.

Hermanus has been acknowledged by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) as one of the twelve best whale viewing locations in the world. The world’s only Whale Crier has become a legend and is the most photographed icon in South Africa next to Nelson Mandela. What makes the whale watching in Hermanus so phenomenal is the fact that the whales can be seen from as close as a few meters from the beach, shore or rocky cliffs.
