In The Footsteps Of Mandela

“During my long walk to freedom, I had the rare privilege to visit Londolozi. There I saw people of all races living in harmony amidst the beauty that Mother Nature offers.”
July is always a very special month at Londolozi as it is during this time that we celebrate the birthday of Nelson Mandela. Mandela Day is on the 18th July and is an occasion for people around the world to unite for a common cause. Offering 67 minutes of service, it is a chance for us to give back to others and follow in the example that Mandela left for us.
Mandela will always hold special memories for us at Londolozi. It is here that he spent time in the early 90’s walking the grounds in a beat-up boxer t-shirt, old tracksuit pants and scuffed slippers. When Mandela would visit the Londolozi Village it was always clear how important he was to his people. Mandela recognised that people of all colours and communities were working together towards a common goal: to conserve and restore the land and its wild inhabitants.
And so it is because of him that we are motivated to be the best versions of ourselves. Read our blog below and be inspired by 13 amazing Mandela quotes. This month also features the incredible story of a leopard whose kill is stolen and the wonderful yet heartbreaking story of a cheetah family.
