Garden of Eden Option 2

Garden of Eden (Option 2 – 7 Nights Garden Route)

B= bed/breakfast D = dinner G = golf

Day 1: Overnight George (DB)

Upon arrival at George airport you will be met by an Around the Green Golf Holidays representative and transferred to Acorn Guest House. This grand Victorian residence is situated in the heart of the picturesque town of George, less than 60 minutes from all the major golf courses in the Garden Route. Acorn Guest House is an ideal location from which to explore the many attractions of this region. The house is beautifully decorated with a mixture of auction and flea market finds from around the world. The 7 en-suite bedrooms, some self-catering, are furnished with a unique sense of style and exquisite linen.

Acorn Guest House is a 4 star establishment and offers free 24-hour internet access, laundry facilities, and swimming pool. It is centrally located and within walking distance of some excellent restaurants. After checking in you will depart for the local driving range to groove your swing for tomorrow. The rest of the day will be at your leisure before enjoying dinner on the property.

Day 2: Overnight George (BGB)

After a leisurely breakfast you head for the George Golf Club for round 1. Situated in the centre of George, this parklands layout has kikuyu fairways and bent grass greens, many trees and thick under-growth. For a number of years now this course has been voted as one of the top ten courses in South Africa, and a must play course when on the Garden Route. After your round you will be returned to the guest house, where the afternoon and evening will be at your leisure

Day 3: Overnight George (BGB)

This morning you depart for the Pezula Golf Estate in Knysna for round 2. Perched atop the famous Knysna Heads, this high vantage point allows for majestic panoramic views. The course offers dramatic downhill holes, backed by the ocean and classic sweeping fairways winding through forested areas and indigenous bush. Such beauty is difficult to capture in words. After your round you will have some time to explore this lovely town, which has become the firm favourite of South African holiday makers.

Day 4: Overnight George (BB)

Today you head to the Karoo town of Oudtshoorn, ostrich capital of the world. Visits to an ostrich farm, the Cango Wildlife Ranch and the Cango caves are on the cards for today. The Cango Caves have been rated as one of the top ten sets of caves in the world with its limestone formations. An ostrich farm visit is always a fun if someone gets to ride one, and the Wildlife Ranch aspires to educate and entertain you with its Cheetah conservation project. After your visit to Oudtshoorn you will return to George via the Outeniqua Mountain pass, and this evening will be at your leisure.

Day 5: Overnight George (BGB)

Today you return to Knysna, but this time to the Jack Nicklaus signature design course of Simola. They say Jack was in a bad mood when he designed Simola, yet it has some marvellous golf holes that create inner excitement when you step onto the tee. Keeping your head down at Simola can be a challenge; simply because the views around the course are awe-inspiring, and with this, it is clear to see why Simola takes its place as one of South Africa’s premier golfing destinations.

Day 6: Overnight George (BB)

Today is your leisure day to do some retail therapy, go shark cage diving in Mossel Bay, visit a local township, go canoeing or simply spend some time on the beach. If there are any adventure activities you’d like to do, please speak to your tour guide who will be happy to organise things for you.

Day 7: Overnight George (BGDB)

Round 4 will be played at the Mossel Bay Golf Club which is the home course of Louis Oostehuizen, former Open champion. Their slogan is “See the sea from every tee!” This layout is perched atop imposing cliffs that plummet into the Indian Ocean. Although not overly long, Mossel Bay has tricky modern greens and the course is susceptible to sea breezes.

Day 8:

After an early breakfast and check out you depart for the Oubaai Golf Estate for your 5th and final round. This Ernie Els design opened in 2005. Built on ocean side cliffs, this is Ernie Els’s signature course and his first offering in South Africa. The layout of the course is a traditional Links layout where veld grasses line the lush fairways. After your round and a refreshing shower, sit back and enjoy the wonder of the estate with a drink at the 19th hole, before departing for George airport.
