Golf Day Ideas: How to Host an Unforgettable Corporate Golf Event in Cape Town
A well-run golf day is one of the best ways to reward staff, entertain clients or bring a club together. Looking for golf day ideas that go beyond the usual four-ball and prize-giving? Our signature “Whydah Cup” turns a golf day into a three-day team tournament on three of the Cape’s best courses, with formats inspired by golf’s great team events.
The Whydah Cup: a three-day team tournament
- Courses: Westlake (Cape Town), De Zalze (Stellenbosch) and Pearl Valley (Winelands)
- Format: two teams competing over three rounds, with a different format each day. The formats are kept secret until the morning of play!
- Team names: each team chooses a South African bird species as its name
- Group size: 8 to 64 golfers, in multiples of four
- Finale: an awards dinner on the final evening
Typically included
- Accommodation for the duration of the tournament
- Three rounds of golf
- Three golf shirts embroidered with each player’s name and team
- Golf balls and a guide to each day’s format
- Transport between accommodation and courses
Courses are subject to availability, and we’ll suggest equivalent alternatives if needed. Book well in advance (ideally at least three months) to secure tee times, accommodation and embroidery.

- Brand it: custom shirts, flags and tee gifts make it memorable.
- Plan the 19th hole: the prize-giving is where relationships are built.
- Arrange transport so no one has to drive after the celebrations.
