Mount Everest Game Farm
Take the road less travelled…it makes all the difference. Whether you are seeking peace and silence or adventure and adrenalin, Mount Everest Game Farm can offer all. Mount Everest Game Farm, formerly known as Eagle Mountain, is nestled between rolling grasslands and majestic mountains in the scenic Eastern Free State. Just 20km from Harrismith, it makes for perfect Harrismith accommodation on your holiday or business travel.
The Mount Everest game farm covers approximately 1000 hectares and consists of mountains, kloofs and rolling grassland, a perfect setting for the 22+ species of game established on the farm. It is also a working sheepfarm and home to a lively family of six. Among the species on the farm are blesbuck, springbuck, the rare lechwe, mountain deer, ribbok, waterbuck, blue wildebeest, black wildebeest, zebra, ostrich, steenbok, duiker, rietbuck, rooikat ( caracle), meerkat and also a “dassie” colony. The very rare reptile called “ouvolk” also thrives on part of the farm.
There is also a wide variety of birds. The game can be viewed from the comfort of your chalet, from the gdam with a fufi slide. There are picnic spots at the swimming hole with fufi slide, braai facilities and swings and jungle gym for the children. Day visitors are welcome to the swimming hole and picnic area or for rock climbing, cycling or hiking.
At the Ouhout leisure lounge you can play a variety of board games or table tennis, watch DSTV or work out in the mini gym with exercise bike, treadmill and strength trainer.
Our chalets are all well equipped with kitchenette, braai facilities ( except Kransduif chalet ) and linen and towels are provided.
At the Ouhout Guest Rooms, there are no self-catering facilities. Coffee and tea is provided in the room and a continental breakfast is served between 7 am and 9 am in the Ouhout Restaurant, about 100 metres from the rooms. Dinner can be arranged by appointment.
Small functions ( up to forty people ) can be catered for, as well as small conferences and team building activities.
The road may pose a problem to vehicles that are very low to the ground – it is a farm in the mountains. There is a 5 km dirt road to the farm.
