Golf Trips to South Africa: An 8-Day Cape Town “Tee to Green” Golf Trip

Planning one of your first golf trips to South Africa? Cape Town is the perfect starting point: a cluster of excellent courses within easy reach of one comfortable base, great food and wine, and a world-class city to explore on your rest day. This eight-day “Tee to Green” trip is all about the golf, with five rounds in seven nights.

At a glance

  • Duration: 8 days, 7 nights in Cape Town
  • Golf: 5 rounds, including choices on days 5 and 6
  • Rest day: one free day for sightseeing or adventure

Sample itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

Meet your driver at the airport for a city tour with Table Mountain (weather permitting), then check in. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 2: Westlake Golf Club

Start with Westlake, a walkable par-72 parkland course beneath the Silvermine mountains, lined with tall trees. Afterwards, there’s an optional tasting at Groot Constantia, South Africa’s oldest wine estate.

Day 3: Rondebosch Golf Club

Rondebosch is a popular parkland layout beside the Black River, with lovely views of Table Mountain’s eastern face and plenty of birdlife. Spend the afternoon at the V&A Waterfront or take the ferry to Robben Island.

Day 4: Mowbray Golf Club

Mowbray in Pinelands is a tough championship test with plenty of bunkers, water and mountain views. It’s a long-time favourite of serious golfers.

Day 5: Clovelly or Arabella

Choose between Clovelly, a tight, scenic course in the Fish Hoek valley, and Arabella, a Peter Matkovich design on the Bot River lagoon near Hermanus, about an hour’s drive from Cape Town.

Day 6: Atlantic Beach or Erinvale

Play the true links at Atlantic Beach near Melkbosstrand, with Table Mountain across the bay, or Erinvale, Gary Player’s championship course at the foot of the Helderberg in Somerset West.

Day 7: Day of leisure

You’ve earned a day off. Ideas include a Cape Point tour, a helicopter flip over the city, shark cage diving, sandboarding the dunes or simply a day on the beach. We can arrange it all in advance.

Day 8: Departure

There’s time for last-minute shopping before your transfer to the airport.
