Golf Tours in South Africa: 11 Days in Cape Town and the Garden Route

For the full Cape experience, few golf tours in South Africa beat “The Fairest Cape”. Over 11 days you’ll play six rounds on two very different stretches of coast, Cape Town and the Garden Route, with time to explore the Cape Peninsula, the Winelands and the Little Karoo in between.

Tour at a glance

  • Duration: 11 days: 5 nights in Cape Town and the Winelands, 5 nights on the Garden Route
  • Golf: 6 rounds: Atlantic Beach, Westlake, Erinvale, George, Simola and Pezula
  • Highlights: Cape Point, the Boulders penguins, Stellenbosch tastings, the Cango Caves and a Knysna lagoon cruise

Sample itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Cape Town

Meet your guide for a city tour and, weather permitting, a trip up Table Mountain. The evening is free to explore the V&A Waterfront.

Day 2: Atlantic Beach Links

Start with Atlantic Beach, a championship links where ocean breezes call for low, running shots on windy days.

Day 3: Westlake

Westlake is a walkable par 72 beneath the Silvermine mountains, with towering trees and plenty of doglegs.

Day 4: Erinvale

Gary Player’s Erinvale, at the foot of the Helderberg, has sweeping fairways, deep bunkers and a striking contrast between its two nines.

Day 5: The Cape Peninsula and the Winelands

A camera day: Chapman’s Peak Drive, Cape Point and the Boulders penguins in the morning, then over Baden Powell Drive to Stellenbosch for wine tastings. Overnight in the Winelands.

Day 6: Fly to George

Take a morning flight to George and check in, then play an afternoon round at George Golf Club, a highly ranked parkland course.

Day 7: Oudtshoorn

Cross the mountains to Oudtshoorn for the Cango Caves, the Cango Wildlife Ranch and an ostrich farm.

Day 8: Simola, Knysna

Play Jack Nicklaus’s signature Simola above the Knysna lagoon, then check in to your Knysna hotel.

Day 9: Pezula

Your final round is at Pezula on Knysna’s Eastern Head, with breathtaking clifftop views. Take a sunset lagoon cruise afterwards.

Day 10: Leisure day

Shop, visit the elephants at Knysna or Plettenberg Bay, take a whale-watching cruise (June to November), or play an optional extra round.

Day 11: Departure

Transfer to George Airport for your flight home.
